Zegrze Lake: the easiest day trip from Warsaw
Swap the city for a lake. Take an Uber for about 100 PLN, ride a speedboat at 80 km/h with our captain, then spend the afternoon on the beach.
Why go to Zegrze when you're in Warsaw
Most things to do in Warsaw are indoors: museums, palaces, the Old Town. Zegrze Lake is the opposite. It's the closest big lake to Warsaw, 35 km north of the city, where locals go to swim, sail and get out on the water — and you can be on a speedboat 40 minutes after leaving your hotel.
You don't need a car, a licence or a plan. Order a ride from your hotel and meet our captain at the Sailing Legia marina. After the boat, the beach is right there.
Getting there from your hotel
- Uber or Bolt: about 100 PLN each way for the whole car from central Warsaw. Split between four people, that's roughly 50 PLN each for the round trip.
- Travel time: about 40 minutes, depending on traffic. Leave a little extra on summer weekend afternoons.
- Destination: type “Sailing Legia Zegrze” into the app. The exact meeting point is in your booking confirmation.
A half day at the lake
- 1. Book your ride online, then order the Uber about an hour before.
- 2. Speedboat: the captain opens it up to 80 km/h across the lake. Expect spray, not a soaking.
- 3. Beach time: Nieporęt, Wieliszew and Serock all have sandy beaches around the lake.
- 4. Sunset: stay for the sunset over the water, then order your ride back to Warsaw.

Speedboat rides in WarsawDay trip to Zegrze Lake: questions
Is Zegrze Lake worth a day trip from Warsaw?
Yes, if you want water and open space rather than another museum. Zegrze Lake (Jezioro Zegrzyńskie) is the closest big lake to Warsaw, about 35 km north of the city centre: sandy beaches, sailing, bike trails and an 80 km/h speedboat ride with a licensed captain, all within an afternoon.
How do I get from Warsaw to Zegrze Lake?
The simplest way is an Uber or Bolt from your hotel straight to the Sailing Legia marina in Zegrze. It takes about 40 minutes depending on traffic and costs around 100 PLN each way for the whole car, so roughly 50 PLN per person for the round trip when four of you share it.
Do I need a boat licence?
No. On John Dragon rides a licensed captain drives the RIB — you just hold on. Life jackets are included. If you want to drive a boat yourself, CHILLi Boats rents a no-licence motorboat at the same marina (driver 18+ with an ID).
Where exactly do we meet?
At the Sailing Legia marina in Zegrze, on Zegrze Lake. Type "Sailing Legia Zegrze" into Uber, Bolt or Google Maps; the exact meeting point is in your booking confirmation.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes — the Family Adventure is designed for children: we speed up, but there are no spins. Check the age rules on the ride's page before you book.
What if the weather is bad?
The captain can cancel or postpone a ride for wind above 6 on the Beaufort scale, thunderstorms, heavy rain that limits visibility or extreme water levels. Safety comes first.
When can I go?
The boats run in the warm season. Live dates and prices for each ride are on its booking calendar.
