Zegrze Lake — a complete guide to attractions in 2026
35 km from Warsaw lies Poland's "mini Balaton" — Zegrze Lake (Jezioro Zegrzyńskie). We've rounded up the main attractions: beaches, kilometres of bike trails, wakeboarding and windsurfing, a rope park, water-mat and bluetooth-speaker rentals for a lazy afternoon on the water, and a no-licence speedboat for a full day or a few hours. Here's what's worth seeing.

1. No-licence speedboat — CHILLi Boat
First on the list: the no-licence CHILLi Boat — you drive it yourself across the lake, no course or licence required. Pick-up from the harbourmaster's office at Sailing Legia in Zegrze, a short briefing, and the whole reservoir to explore at your own pace.
Why is this the best way to start the day at the lake?
- ✓ No licence needed — just an ID and being 18+
- ✓ 150 PLN for the first hour, 100 PLN each following hour
- ✓ You drive — you choose the route
- ✓ Up to 6 people on board, fuel included
- ✓ Pick-up from the Sailing Legia harbourmaster's office in Zegrze

You'll find safe swimming spots with sports courts and toilets at the Nieporęt-Pilawa complex and in Wieliszew. For families with kids, we recommend Serock, which also has a water playground for younger children.
Nieporęt-Pilawa
The most popular unguarded beach on the lake — kayak and pedal-boat rentals, plus a nearby windsurfing school.
Serock
A beach with a water playground for kids — one of the best options for a family day by the water.
3. Rope park — Radocha closed, Jachranka still open
The popular "Radocha" rope park at the Nieporęt-Pilawa complex closed in 2020 and is no longer operating. The closest active alternative is Park Linowy Jachranka in Serock, about 30 km from Warsaw (a dozen or so minutes from Zegrze) — four routes at different difficulty levels, good for kids too. Looking for adrenaline without the climbing? The fastest alternative is the CHILLi speedboat — driving the boat yourself delivers more of a rush than most rope courses.
4. Water sports: wakeboarding and windsurfing
Zegrze Lake is one of the bigger water-sports hubs near Warsaw — several wakeschools in the area teach wakeboarding on a cable tow, windsurfing and wakesurfing, usually with equipment rental and basic on-site instruction. It's a good option if you have a few hours for a lesson and want to learn a new skill rather than just a one-off adrenaline hit — that's exactly the difference versus our speedboat: with us you hop on and go, no lessons or gear to haul around.
5. Bike trails around the lake
A network of walking and cycling trails runs around Zegrze Lake, totalling roughly 88.6 km. The most recommended stretch is the Zegrze–Serock–Dębe route, a yellow trail passing the Szaniawski Ravine nature reserve all the way to the impressive dam on the Narew river at Dębe.
- Zegrze–Serock–Dębe — yellow trail, a nature reserve and the Narew dam
- 88.6 km of trails around the reservoir in total
- Flat terrain, good for families with kids too
6. Pedal boats, a water mat, and relaxing on the water
Want something calmer than a speedboat? Rent a pedal boat, a four-seat kayak, an inflatable water mat for a whole afternoon of doing nothing, or a bluetooth speaker so your own music plays on the water. We recommend the local rental rowerywodne-zegrze.pl — right by the lake, and a great complement to a day full of water-based fun.
7. A scenic cruise if you'd rather sit back
Not everyone wants to drive the boat themselves. If you'd rather sit back and let a professional skipper take over, check out John Dragon's scenic Zegrze Lake cruises — including a sunset option, which makes the biggest impression in summer.

Zegrze Lake — getting there and when to go
📅 When and how to get there:
- • Distance — about 35 km from central Warsaw, 40–50 min by car or train
- • May–September — full season, all water attractions open
- • Weekends — the most popular time, book the speedboat in advance
Summary
Zegrze Lake is a lot more than a beach outside the city — kilometres of bike trails, family-friendly swimming spots, a lazy afternoon on a water mat with music from a bluetooth speaker, and water you can really feel by driving a speedboat yourself.
Our top 3 at Zegrze Lake:
- The no-licence CHILLi speedboat — for those after a self-driven adventure
- Serock beach — for families with kids
- The Zegrze–Serock–Dębe bike route — for active-holiday fans
